COQUET

EXTRAIT DE PARFUM

Coquet is the path of ego-consciousness. It depicts a flirt motived by conquest and conceit, who disregards relationship. He seduces with no intention of reciprocation, and evades intimacy, all the while repeating, “I am beautiful.” It is a perfume of contrasts: feathers and fists, whispers and howls. The main accord, carnation, is commonly associated with both love and death. Here it represents vanity and vengeance, as in Roman mythology: Diana the Huntress favored a shepherd boy who refused her advances. Offended, she plucked out his eyes and threw them to the ground, where they grew into carnations. This motif is accompanied by opulent white florals, spicy clove, sweet amber and the velvety musk Cashmeran. Key to the formula is a rectified black pepper oil from Madagascar, whose fragrance is piquant, leathery and animalic.

BOTTLED UP

Each ceramic bottle in this limited-edition series is handcrafted by Japanese ceramist Yasuhiro Cúze of Studio Cúze. The unique, noble form recalls the majesty of ancient chessmen. For chess, like the fragrances, involves no hidden information; a game of strategy, pieces attack, yet do so in support of one another.
