VAUDOU

EXTRAIT DE PARFUM

Vaudou is the path of higher consciousness. It portrays the question, the search, the journey, the dark before the light. The main theme consists of two oils used in Voodoo: magnolia flower, for self-integrity, and Haitian khus khus (vetiver root), to heighten spirituality. In other words, magnolia is youth, and khus khus, the road. These are accompanied by earthy notes recalling dirt from a graveyard; the beyond. In the background are incenses shared by many religions – benzoin, cypriol, frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood – a syncretic approach to divinity, a mixture of creeds, cultures and philosophies. The whole is underlined by an overdose of Corps Racine, a novel molecule that smells of damp soil. Together, these materials form an unlikely blend, a gris-gris to be worn on different parts of the body according to purpose. The result is ambiguous, for essential to faith is doubt.
